Player Review Standard

Review Guidelines

How to write a useful review, how the detailed 1–10 system works and what every HBTOP50 rating category is intended to measure.

Player Rules
Detailed Rating System

12 required ratings. One overall score.

Every new review must rate all 12 criteria from 1 to 10. HBTOP50 calculates the overall detailed score from the average of those individual ratings, while each category also receives its own average.

Rating Categories

What each score should represent

Judge each criterion on its own. A bad experience in one area should not automatically turn every other category into a 1/10.

01

Server Rating

Measures the technical reliability and accessibility of the game server itself.

Stability
Crashes, disconnects, severe lag, rollbacks, freezes, recurring technical problems and general server reliability during normal play.
Availability
How consistently the server is actually available to play, including unexpected downtime, connection availability and reliability outside announced maintenance.
02

Community Rating

Measures the quality and activity of the player community rather than the server software.

Friendliness
How welcoming, respectful and helpful the player base generally feels to new and existing players. Do not base the entire score on one isolated disagreement.
Eventfulness
How active and engaging the community feels through player activity, community interaction, events, guild activity and things happening in-game.
03

Game Master Rating

Measures your experience with the server's administration and in-game/support staff.

Friendliness
Whether staff communicate respectfully and professionally, including when handling criticism, questions or disputes.
Availability
How reasonably available staff are when help is needed. Consider the size of the server and realistic support coverage rather than expecting permanent instant responses.
Helpfulness
Whether staff give useful assistance, resolve legitimate issues consistently and communicate decisions clearly.
04

Gameplay Rating

Measures how well the actual game environment, progression and competitive systems work together.

Economy
Currency value, item scarcity, trading health, inflation, progression costs and whether wealth acquisition feels sustainable and fair.
Item Balance
Whether equipment, rare items, upgrades and rewards have reasonable power differences without a small number of items making most alternatives meaningless.
Class Balance
Whether different classes/builds have meaningful strengths and weaknesses and remain reasonably viable within the server's intended design.
PvP
Quality of player-versus-player combat, including fairness, pacing, counterplay, competitive balance and whether PvP systems work as intended.
05

Monetization Rating

Measures how the server's real-money systems affect fairness and the overall player experience.

Monetization
Consider cash shops, donations, VIP systems, paid conveniences and purchasable power. A high score should indicate transparent and reasonably fair monetization; a low score may reflect heavy pay-to-win pressure, misleading pricing or excessive paid advantages.
Writing Standard

What makes a useful review?

Good reviews should

  • Come from meaningful first-hand experience with the server.
  • Explain the reason behind unusually high or low ratings.
  • Separate facts from personal preference and opinion.
  • Describe both strengths and weaknesses when appropriate.
  • Focus on the current or recent server experience.
  • Remain readable, relevant and useful to another player deciding whether to join.

Reviews should not

  • Be submitted by a server owner/staff member for their own server.
  • Be bought, traded, rewarded or coordinated as part of a rating campaign.
  • Use every 1/10 or 10/10 merely to punish or promote a server.
  • Contain copied spam, advertisements, referral links or unrelated server promotion.
  • Include threats, doxxing, targeted harassment or knowingly fabricated allegations.
  • Be recreated through alternate accounts after moderation.
Scoring Examples

Use the full 1–10 scale thoughtfully

10 / 10

Exceptional for that specific criterion with little meaningful room for improvement. It should not simply mean “I like this server.”

7–8 / 10

Clearly good performance with some minor weaknesses or occasional issues that do not dominate the experience.

5–6 / 10

Mixed or average. Functional and acceptable, but there are noticeable limitations, inconsistencies or trade-offs.

3–4 / 10

Below expectations with recurring problems that materially affect your experience in that area.

1–2 / 10

Severely poor or consistently broken in that specific area. Extreme scores should have a clear reason in the written review.

Moderation & fairness

HBTOP50 may place reviews in moderation, remove content or restrict accounts when automated or manual checks identify spam, duplicate content, manipulation, harassment or other rule violations. A negative opinion is not itself a violation: reviews are moderated for conduct and authenticity, not for being favorable to a server.
